H:/M: drive decommission FAQs
Note: Personal network share drives, known as "M: drives" at Pleasanton corporate and in some field offices were retired in 2003. As of Q3 2004, all remaining personal network share drives will be decommissioned. These drives are usually designated at H: or M: drives and are located in various Field offices and Denver.
Listed below are some of the questions that will come up and the answers to those questions:
What is the purpose of the decommissions?
Connected backup software is the corporate standard for backing up data on PeopleSoft workstations. PeopleSoft Information Technology has also been implementing several cost-savings programs targeted at improving the return on our investment for PeopleSoft tools, resources, and services. Using a phased-in approach, the personal network share drives will be no longer available in the near future so that the server hardware can be used for other projects, or retired as out of warranty. In place of these drives, users may request a shared resource for their group for their shared business-related files.
