PeopleSoft network logon scripts
Every time you properly log onto the PeopleSoft network, your network logon scripts should run.
Note: The running of PeopleSoft network logon scripts is not currently supported for VPN users.

Functions of PeopleSoft network logon scripts
Your PeopleSoft network logon script has many functions:
The script is the way that some critical software updates are delivered to you. For example, Norton AntiVirus Definition Files are delivered to your machine. These updates help IT keep your machine healthy. Do NOT interrupt or cancel the script.
The logon script maps your N: and P: drives to current standard network drives so that you can access certain software updates and other network resources. In particular, your P: drive is needed when you want to download software from the Lotus Notes Software Library. If your P: drive is not properly mapped, you may get the error Unable to locate program when you click on a button in the Software Library.
The script sets up a proxy server for BackWeb package deliveries. Backweb is another tool used to send critical software updates.
The script generates current workstation information needed for troubleshooting.

How do you know when your logon scripts have run?
Office or RAS users: When you log on to the PeopleSoft network in a PeopleSoft office, or via RAS (using PS RAS Connection Manager or by checking the "Logon using..." checkbox on the Windows logon screen), you will hear the following sounds:
(Click on the icon to hear the logon script sounds. Windows Media Player will launch). The sounds may happen a little slower for you.
VPN users: The running of PeopleSoft network logon scripts is not currently supported.
You may see a black DOS screen appear on your window (Windows NT 4 users) while the script is running. Windows 2000 users may see the DOS screen minimized on the Windows task bar.
Are your N: and P: drives are mapped to the correct standard network drives and accessible? (For help, see Eureka! document 50003 — How to map a drive letter and document 55142 — How to tell if your P: drive is properly mapped and accessible.)

Troubleshooting logon script problems
Reboot the machine. See if your N: and P: drives appear after you properly relog onto the network. See Eureka! document 55142 — Reboot and properly relog onto the PeopleSoft network.
If that doesn't work, try refreshing your login script. See Eureka! document 55021 — Reload network logon script using PNU Control.
If the steps above do not work, log on NorthStar ticket and report the issue.
