Pleasanton server retirement

Document number: 55188

2 Pleasanton servers are going to be retried and the files on them deleted:

If you are the owner of any network share drives mapped to either of these servers, and the network share drive is still needed, you must request that the network share drive be transferred to another server.

To request the transfer of the network share drive, open a NorthStar ticket as instructed below. You must specify the names of 2 people who will be the owners for the network share drive. Click here to see an explanation of a network share drive "owner."

  1. Launch NorthStar and log in if necessary.

  2. Click on the Log Service Ticket link on the left side of the screen.

  3. Enter your contact information and click Next.

  4. Choose Other Service Request and click Next.

  5. For the question "What type of problem are you having?" choose Network.

  6. Answer the Operating System and Connectivity questions.

  7. In the Subject field, type " I have an active shared network drive on \\ple-share-02 [or \\pcc-file-01]."

  8. Copy and paste the following checklist into the Description field and type in your response to the following 4 questions:

    1. Name of the directory you are mapped to (ex: \\ple-share-02\myshare):

2 . Please provide department or project information (name and number) for this share drive:

    3. List of names and employee ID numbers (if applicable) of EACH person who will need access to the network share drive initially. Do NOT use a Lotus Notes distribution list - please list each person separately. Specify the type of access each person will need ( e.g., Read only or Read/Write):

    4. Provide 2 names for the network share drive owners/contacts (at least one must be a full-time PeopleSoft employee):

  9. Click Finish.

Your ticket will be submitted and escalated to the Share Migration Team. You will be contacted for more information or the new location of your network share drive.

Network drive share no longer needed

If you identify a network share drive that is no longer needed on either server (ple-share-02 or pcc-file-01), you may request that the share drive be deleted. If you make this request, you may be asked for proof that you are authorized to request the deletion. Follow these instructions:

  7. In the Subject field, type " Please delete the network share drive \\ servername\directoryname" where the "servername" is either \\ple-share-02 or \\pcc-file-01 and "directory" is the directory name of the share (example: "myshare")

Your ticket will be submitted and escalated to the Share Migration Team. You will be contacted for more information or the completion of your request.
