How to boot into VGA mode
When you make changes to your screen settings those changes will affect any display you use with the machine. If you make changes that work with an external monitor those changes may not work with your laptop display or a different monitor. If the changes you made prevent you from seeing the screen to navigate you can restore the correct settings by restarting in VGA mode.
Booting into VGA mode on your Windows 2000 machine.
Restart your machine. When you can see the first activity on screen press the F8 key.
A Windows 2000 Advanced Options Menu will open.
Use your down or up arrow keys to scroll to Enable VGA mode, and then press { Enter}
That should load the standard VGA drivers which will allow you to see to navigate.
You should now be in VGA mode. This mode may show coarser and larger images but your shortcuts and other desktop properties should be accessible. You can now restore or change your screen settings.
