How to determine if you are an administrator on a machine
Generally, all users are automatically made an administrator of the PeopleSoft computer that was built for you specifically.
To determine whether you are an administrator of a machine, click the operating system you are running and follow the detailed steps.
Click on the Start menu, then on Programs, then on Administrative Tools (Common), and finally, on User Manager.
The User Manager screen appears.
In the bottom half of the screen (
Groups), double-click on the
Administrators group.
If you are denied access you are not an Administrator.
A Local Group Properties screen appears.
Example: NORTHAMERICA\PNEWMAN.
Click OK to close the screen.
Close the User Manager screen.
If your current network domain and user name appear in the list, you are an administrator on that machine. If you are not an administrator of the machine but you should be added make an appointment for service by opening a NorthStar Ticket. Be sure to leave a contact number and describe the problem. Click on the Start menu, then on Settings, then on Control Panel, and finally on Users and Passwords.
On the
Users tab, a list of User Names and Domains appear, along with their Group name.
If you are denied access at any point you are not an Administrator.
Example: PNewman
Example: NORTHAMERICA
Look in the Group field associated with that User Name and make sure it's showing Administrators as the group name.
Click Cancel to close the screen.
