Document number: 69068

To add someone as an administrator of a machine you must be an administrator on the machine. Generally, all users are automatically made an administrator of the PeopleSoft computer that was built for you specifically. To determine whether you are an administrator of a machine see Eureka! document 69064 — How to determine if you are an administrator on a machine.

WINDOWS 2000

  1. Log in using an account name that has administrative privleges on the machine.

    • For example, if you are migrating to another domain your original domain account (e.g. CORP, JDEMD1 or whatever) should have administrative rights on the machine. Log in using  your original domain account (e.g.CORP, JDEMD1 or whatever).

  2. Click on the Start menu, then on Settings, then on Control Panel, and finally on Users and Passwords.

  3. On the Users tab, a list of User Names and Domains appear, along with their Group name.

  4. See if the PEOPLESOFT network user name appears

    • Example: PEOPLESOFT\PNEWMAN.

  5. If the PEOPLESOFT login already appears then you don't need to do anything. If it does not appear continue.

  6. Click Add... An "Add New User" wizard will open.

  7. Fill in the user name and domain name then click Next >

  8. For the level of access click Other and select Administrators.

  9. Click Finish.

The person you added now has administrative rights on the machine which allows full and unrestricted access. Please be careful and give only the necessary user rights.
