How to request additional RAM
Your department is charged for the additional RAM that you request.
If you are an employee who is based in the United States, see the Eureka! document on accessing the Peripherals Ordering website to order additional RAM. (The website is not yet available for use by employees based outside the U.S.)
If you are based outside the U.S., you must make the request via NorthStar. To see how much memory you currently have see Eureka! document 35020 — How to find processor and memory information for your computer.
Follow these steps to make the request:
Launch NorthStar and log in, if necessary. For more information about launching NorthStar, see Eureka! document 70001 — How to create a ticket in NorthStar.
On the left side of the screen, click on the Log Service Ticket link.
On the contact screen, make sure the information is current and indicate how you would like to be contacted if there are any questions (the default is by phone, based on your internal phone number in the PeoplePeople Directory.)
Click Next.
Choose Workstation and click Next.
Choose Add a Peripheral to Existing Hardware and click Next.
In the drop-down list next to What type of hardware peripheral do you need? make the appropriate choice:
Choose the appropriate machine type and model. It must match the machine you currently have. You cannot specify the amount of memory you wish - you must choose from the list.
Fill in the other required fields (labeled in red text).
Click Next.
From the Current Asset Number drop-down list, choose the machine for which the peripheral is being ordered.
Fill in any other information you deem necessary.
Click Finish.
Your request has been submitted. You will be contacted the request is complete and ready for pickup and installation.
