How to get a modem tester
If you need to order a new or replacement modem line tester for your laptop, follow these steps:
Note: Tecra 8200, and the 9000-series have protection from digital lines built-in, so a modem tester is not necessary.
Launch NorthStar and log in, if necessary. For more information about launching NorthStar, see Eureka! document 70001 — How to create a ticket in Northstar.
On the left side of the screen, click on the Log Service Ticket link.
On the contact screen, make sure the information is current and indicate how you would like to be contacted if there are any questions (the default is by phone, based on your internal phone number in the PeoplePeople Directory.)
Click Next.
Choose Workstation and click Next.
Choose Request Peripheral (Non-U.S. Only) and click Next. (Use this option FOR THIS REQUEST TYPE ONLY, even if you are a U.S.-based employee.)
In the drop-down list next to What type of hardware peripheral do you need? choose Modem Line Tester.
In the Subject line, enter " I need a modem tester."
In the Description field, if you wish to have the modem tester shipped, please include an address that may accept Fed-Ex-type deliveries. You may be asked to verify your address when the item is ready.
Click Next.
From the Current Asset Number drop-down list, choose the machine for which the peripheral is being ordered.
Fill in any other information you deem necessary.
Click Finish.
You will be contacted when the equipment is available for pickup or if your address needs verification.
