How to set up call forwarding for the Cisco 7940 IP phone

Document number: 81015

Incoming calls to one or both lines of the Cisco 7940 IP phone can automatically be forwarded to another local number. The default is that both lines are automatically put into voice mail if the call is not answered.

To set up call forwarding:

  1. Log on to the Cisco CallManager at http://callmanager/ccmuser.
For additional information, see Eureka! document 81014 — How to log on to the Cisco CallManager for the Cisco 7940 IP phone.

  2. Click the Forward all calls to another number link.
Note: Calls can only be forwarded to local numbers.

  3. Click the box next to the line that should be forwarded so that a check mark appears. Both lines can be forwarded.
All incoming calls will automatically route to Line 1 first. Incoming calls will only route to Line 2 if Line 1 is currently busy.

  4. Click the radio button next to this number and enter the phone number in the window.

  5. Click the Update button.

The page will refresh and the following Status message will appear: Update completed successfully; 1 (or 2 if both selected) Call Forward destination(s) updated.
