Entries can be added to the Personal Address Book for the Cisco 7940 IP phone so that they can be quickly looked up and the phone number dialed for frequently called people.

The Personal Address Book is where Fast Dials are configured as well. Fast dial was added to permit up to 99 speed dial numbers.

Deleting Fast Dial numbers
To add a new entry to the Personal Address Book:
- Log on to the Cisco CallManager at
http://callmanager/ccmuser.

- Click the
Configure your Cisco Personal Address Book link.
- Click the
Add a New Entry link.
- Complete the entry information as desired. The person's first and last name are required.
Note: Be sure to enter "8" followed by "1" plus the area code (if necessary) for external numbers or a "6" followed by the office code for internal numbers if you want to be able to quickly dial them from your phone. Do not use any punctuation such as commas.
- Click the
Insert button.
The page will refresh and the following Status message will appear:
Entry inserted into the Address Book successfully.

An entry in the Personal Address Book can be easily edited.
To edit an existing entry in the Personal Address Book:
- Log on to the Cisco CallManager at
http://callmanager/ccmuser.
- Click the
Configure your Cisco Personal Address Book link.
- Enter the
Last Name,
First Name or
Nickname previously entered for the entry that will be edited and click the
Find button. The names in the Address Book that match the search criteria will appear.
- Click the link for the
Last Name,
First Name or
Nickname for the entry that needs to be modified. The Modify an Address Book Entry page will appear for that name.
- Make all changes needed for that entry and click the
Update button.
The page will refresh and the following Status message will appear:
Update completed successfully; Address Book Entry updated.

Entries that are no longer needed in the Personal Address Book can be deleted.
There are two ways to delete an entry from the Personal Address Book:

Fast dial numbers are configured like speed dial numbers so that they can be quickly dialed at the touch of a button.
To configure fast dial numbers:
- Log on to the Cisco CallManager at
http://callmanager/ccmuser.
- Click the
Configure your Cisco Personal Address Book link.
- Click the
Fast Dials link.
- Click the
Unassigned link next to the index number that the new fast dial should be associated with.
If an index number that is currently being used needs to be updated with a different name or number, click the entry next to that index number.
- Click the radio button next to
Personal Address Book Entry and single click on the name of the person whose number will be associated with this fast dial index number.
Note: If
Enter a directory number is selected, the telephone number will appear on the Fast Dial index instead of the person's name and which phone type (work or home) it is.
- Click the down arrow below
"Choose a directory number for the selected Address Book entry" and select the phone number that will be associated with this fast dial index number.
- Click the
Insert button.
The item selected will now appear as a fast dial number in the index number assigned. Click the "x" in the upper right hand corner of the Fast Dial entry page to close that window.

Fast dial numbers that are no longer needed can be deleted.
To delete a fast dial number:
- Log on to the Cisco CallManager at
http://callmanager/ccmuser.
- Click the
Configure your Cisco Personal Address Book link.
- Click the
Fast Dials link.
- Click in the box next to the entry that should be deleted so that a check mark appears. Multiple entries may be deleted at the same time by selecting each entry to be deleted.
- Click the
Delete Selected button located near the bottom of the page.
- A dialog box will appear that says,
"You are about to delete [#] selected entries(s). This action cannot be undone. Continue?" Click
OK.
The page will refresh with the following Status message will appear:
[#] item(s) successfully deleted from Personal Fast Dials.
