Cell phone conversion FAQ
This FAQ is for users who have been identified as being able to convert their cell phone service to the PeopleSoft corporate plan. By converting qualified employees to the corporate plan, PeopleSoft will save approximately $1M over the next 12 months. An added benefit of the conversion is that employees will no longer have to pay their cell phone bills and then expense them for reimbursement.
Note: This conversion does not affect users in the
Bethesda office or in
Canada.

How do I know if I am on an individual plan or the corporate plan?
If you are receiving a bill for cellular service to your home and using PSynergy Time and Expense to recover business related charges, you are on an individual plan and must convert.
How do I reconcile my final bill?
Expense your charges using Time and Expense as you normally do. Current and outstanding charges will not be transferred to the corporate program.
I have a current contract, how do I handle the penalty for early termination?
Early termination fees for current ATT and Sprint users doing a conversion to corporate billing will have their early termination fees waived. If you are converting from a carrier other than Sprint or ATT, expense your final bill as well as your early termination fees as you would normally do.
I want to keep my current phone and carrier for personal use. Can I do this?
Yes, but you will no longer be allowed to expense your monthly costs.
Which provider has the best coverage for my area?
Coverage can be determined by viewing the providers web site. Sprint has recently improved their coverage areas and handsets to provide excellent coverage and features nationwide.
I am currently not on Sprint or ATT. What should I do?
You will need to convert to one of these carriers immediately.
If you are located in the Bethesda field office or in Canada, you must convert your cellular phone service to one of the corporate providers listed in NorthStar at the time of your contract expiration.
I am on carrier other than Sprint or ATT and will be converting to one of these providers, can I have the same phone number?
No, currently cellular phone numbers are only transferable within the same service provider.
Will I need a new phone?
Potentially. If you are changing providers, for any reason, you will need a new phone.
Can I take this opportunity to switch between the 3 named providers with which we are contracted?
No. We need to execute and manage the conversion. After September 1, if you wish to change to another preferred carrier, you must submit a NorthStar ticket so your old account can be terminated and your new one can be set up.
Can I convert from a TDMA phone to a GSM phone if I am currently using ATT?
No. In the near future, we will be investigating the viability of GSM phones but currently there is no provision for wholesale replacement or conversion to GSM technology.
Can I get a new phone?
If you need a new phone in conjunction with the conversion, you must request one and receive manager approval via the NorthStar process.
What happens if I dont convert within the time frame?
All cellular phone charges submitted through PSynergy Time and Expense will be denied.
