Passwords FAQ
There are a number of different passwords in the PeopleSoft environment. Many applications and intranet sites share passwords. This document reviews which applications share passwords and what to do if you have forgotten your password. This document will also link to a list of all Eureka! documents relating to that application.
Network - automatic : Network, eReports, and PSTV (You do not have to enter a user name and password for these applications once you log onto the network). Documentum (You must enter your user name and password).
Network - Planet sign-on: Includes, but is not limited to: Customer1, Ed Web, eProcurement, InfoSphere, HRDB (HR self-service), Marketing Calendar, Planet PeopleSoft, Time & Expense.
(If you are not already logged into Planet PeopleSoft, you must enter your network name and password when accessing these sites.)
Sametime password : Sametime Connect.
Vantive : Vantive (Customer Support).
Other applications (PeopleSoft): Genesis, Gromit, NorthStar Vantive client, TrainAdm, and VPN.
Other applications (Third party): Includes, but is not limited to: Boise Cascade (Office supplies), Digital Think, Knowledge Center, Marketing Connection, MeetingPlace, PeopleMover, PeopleStore, SkillSoft, support.vantive.com, and WebEx. In some cases, you will need to log onto Planet PeopleSoft before logging on to an application on the intranet that uses its own password. Use your network name and password to log onto Planet.

This is the same user name and password you use to log in to your machine. For some web applications (such as Planet PeopleSoft), you will be asked to log in again when you try to access the application. For others, such as eReports, you will not have to enter your login information again as long as you are logged onto the machine on which you are accessing the application.
User Name
The user name is created from your name. It is usually created from the first letter of your first name, and up to the first 7 letters of your last name. For example: Fred Flintstone's user name would be Fflintst. Tubby Toad's user name would be Ttoad. Ordinarily the
User name field will be pre-populated with your user name.

Password
The default network password is "password." That password should be changed immediately after the first time you log in to the network at PeopleSoft. You may change your password at any time.
You will be required to change your password at least every 45 days. For instructions on how to change your network password, see Eureka! document

Your Sametime password is used to access Sametime Connect.
User Name
The User Name is usually just your first and last name. For example: Fred Flintstone's user name would be Fred Flintstone. Generally, special characters, such as "/" should not be used. Users with duplicate names may have an organizational component such as "Peter Rabbit/HR" to distinguish them. If you don't know your username look in the PeopleSoft Directory
in Lotus Notes.
To look for your name in the PeopleSoft Directory.
- Double-click on the PeopleSoft Directory to open it.
It can usually be found in your Favorite Bookmarks folder in Lotus Notes.
Click on People in the left column.
Locate and double-click on your name to open your "person document."
- Your User name is on the Basics tab.
Generally, if there are multiple names in that field, use the try the top name first.

Password
If you have forgotten your password you can submit a request to have it reset and the new password emailed to you. It may take up to 3 hours for a new password to replicate to your server.
To request a reset of your PeopleSoft Sametime password:
Launch the PeopleSoft Sametime Password Reset form.
Type your User Name in the Username: field.
- Click Reset Password.
The Successful Password Reset form appears informing you that your new password has been emailed to you. An Automatic Notification will be sent to you immediately with your new Sametime password.
Launch the Sametime Password Change form.
Verify New Password: Re-enter the password entered in the New Password window.
The new password will appear as asterisks.
Click the Change Password button.
Please wait a few hours after the Sametime password change is complete for the new password to replicate.

This is the user name and password you use to log in to get your mail from Lotus Notes.
User Name
The User Name or User ID is created from your name. It is usually just your first and last name. For example: Fred Flintstone's user name would be Fred Flintstone. Sometimes, consultants will have a "/Consultant" after their name. For example: If Tubby Toad is a contractor, his user name would be Tubby Toad/Consultant. Password

This is the user name and password you use to log in to Workforce Scheduling and Vantive (Customer Support).
User Name
Your User Name is your preferred name in the HR system. If you are a first time user changing you will need both your employee ID and your manager's employee ID so if you don't know it now is the time to look it up. To find your HR preferred name, your employee ID, and your manager's employee ID, look in the PeoplePeople directory
in Lotus Notes:
Double-click on the PeoplePeople Directory to open it.
The default view is by last name. Locate and double-click on your name.
- Your HR Preferred Name, your employee ID, and your manager's employee ID all in appear in their respective fields.

Password
The default password is password. You are required to change the default password. For information on changing your Vantive password, see Eureka! document

Certain applications maintain their own separate user name and password. This may change as certain applications are developed on the PeopleSoft8 platform. Generally, if you have forgotten the password for one of these applications, you will need to submit a NorthStar request to get it reset.

Other applications (Third party)
Many of our web applications at PeopleSoft are maintained by a third party. These parties issue a specific user name and password for their applications. Generally, their site explains the default password and user name. If you forget it, you are responsible for finding out how to get it reset by viewing the instructions on the site, or viewing Eureka! for the supported applications.
