Asset Insight - No longer in use

Document number: 15381

Asset Insight software is no longer in use on PeopleSoft machines. It was removed from most machines automatically. You may remove the software from your machine manually, if it is still on your machine. To uninstall the application, follow these steps:

  1. Verify that Asset Insight is still on your machine
    • Click on Start, then Programs, then Utilities. There should be an Asset Insight and a User Discovery Information menu icon.
      • If you cannot find any of the icons, see if you have a c:\apps\insight directory. If you do, then Asset Insight is installed.
    • If you can't find Asset Insight installed but you believe you are having a problem related to Asset Insight, please contact Technical Support Operations or open a NorthStar ticket for further troubleshooting. Refer to this document number (15381) when you contact them or in your ticket.

  2. Open Lotus Notes, then open the Software Library by clicking the bookmark link.
  3. Click the Standard Software Package Installs icon.

  4. Scroll until you see the entry Asset Insight Client 4.0 and double click on it to open it.

  5. Click on the Remove Asset Insight Client button.
    • After you click the button, please be patient. Eventually, a small yellow camera icon will appear in your system tray. You may see a "Self-Installing file" screen appear. Wait for the program to finish running - it may take a while, especially over a remote connection.
    • If you unable to find the entry, or you get the error Unable to locate program navigate to the Software Library on the pspapps2 server by clicking here.

  6. Reboot your machine to complete the removal process.

You should no longer be prompted for an inventory, or if you are receiving the error aiclient.exe application error memory could not be read, you should no longer see the error.
