ERROR: "This database cannot be opened" and "File is in use by another program"
The Lotus Notes error messages "This database cannot be opened because a consistency check of it is needed " and "File is in use by another program" display when a server task (indexing, consistency check, backup) is running on a database. Whenever a server goes down and comes back up, a consistency check must be done on ALL the databases, including mail files. Until this is done or while the consistency check is being performed, one of the two messages will be received.
Wait 15 to 20 minutes and try again.
If the error message continues after 15 to 20 minutes, contact Technical Support Operations for further assistance.
