Error when opening folders or the archive in the Lotus Notes mail file
If receiving the error message "This database cannot be read due to an invalid on disk structure" when trying to open folders or the archive within the mail file, the mail file icon should be removed from the workspace, Notes closed and then the file re-added to the workspace.
If the error continues to be received after removing the mail file and re-adding it, contact Technical Support Operations for further assistance.
If the error message is being received when trying to do something other than open folders or the archive in the mail file, see Eureka! document 20023 — Lotus Notes errors due to Personal Address book being corrupt.
To remove the mail file from the workspace:
Open the Databases bookmark folder (with the blue book) on the left hand side of your Lotus Notes screen. If you've moved the Workspace bookmark, open the bookmark folder where it's now located.
Click on the bookmark named Workspace and the workspace will open.
Find the mail file icon (User Name on Server Name).
Single click on the mail file icon so that it's highlighted. The database title will be in the color blue.
Press the {Delete} key.
A pop up window that asks "Remove selected icon(s)?" will appear. Click Y es to remove the icon.
The database icon will now be removed from the workspace. A message may appear that says that the database is currently open and that it will be removed later. Click OK and when Notes is closed, the icon will be removed.
Close Lotus Notes and then re-launch it.
NOTE: If Lotus Notes still opens to the Welcome page, the error "Unable to load frame contents" may appear when Notes is re-launched. That is because the database has been removed from the workspace and the Inbox, Calendar and To Do can't be loaded. Once the mail file is re-added to the workspace, it will load fine the next time Notes is launched. For information about the message Unable to load frame contents, see Eureka! document 26049 — ERROR: Unable to load frame contents.
After re-launching Notes, the mail file should be re-added to the workspace. For information on how to re-add the mail file to the workspace, click here.
