Unable to access external websites after connecting via VPN
This is a currently known issue with Cisco VPN clients prior to, and including, version 4.0.1, that prevents being able to access external web sites after connecting to PeopleSoft using VPN. Follow these steps if you are experiencing this issue and each of the following are true:
Before you VPN into the PeopleSoft network, you can reach the internet successfully. For example, you can view www.yahoo.com before you VPN in.
You can successfully connect to the PeopleSoft network using VPN.
You can reach other network resources such as Lotus Notes and Planet PeopleSoft
after you connect via VPN.
In order, you should try the following steps to resolve the issue. If a step is successful in resolving your issue, you do not need to continue working through these troubleshooting steps.
Disable transparent tunneling. (See Eureka! document 54135 for the detailed steps on making this change.)
Bypass your home network equipment and plug directly into your broadband DSL or cable modem/router. (This will isolate the home network or other equipment as being a possible issue.)
Power off both the broadband DSL or cable modem/router and your machine. Turn the power back on for the broadband DSL or cable modem/router, and once the equipment is back online, turn your machine back on.
If these steps fail to resolve the issue, log a NorthStar ticket or contact Technical Support Operations for additional assistance.
