Document number: 28065

Symptom:

The following error displays when trying to connect to Documentum: Connection failed. Username is invalid.

Cause:

This error occurs for the following reasons:

Note: Documentum accounts are set up on an individual user basis. Users are informed when an account has been created for them.

Resolution:

If you are not an international user, follow the instructions below to resolve this error:

  1. Verify that you are correctly entering your login name and password. Your login ID (username) is the same as your network ID (usually your first initial and first 7 letters of your last name). The password is the same as your network password. Both the login and password are case sensitive.

  2. If you are entering your username and password correctly, try changing your network password.  For information on changing your network password see Eureka! document 50001 — How to change your network password.

If you are an international user and are receiving this error, please submit a NorthStar ticket or contact Technical Support Operations. The authentication server may not recognize your domain. The system is currently set up to authenticate users in PEOPLESOFT. If you are in another domain, IT must configure the authentication servers used by Documentum to accept users from that domain.
